Sitting between the certificate and higher diploma in IDEA's travel and tourism ladder, this Diploma works through tourism fundamentals, how hospitality businesses operate, trip and itinerary planning, and keeping tourism sustainable, spread across six compulsory modules worth 60 ECTS in total. The extra module load compared with the certificate allows more time on practical, industry-facing exercises.
Teaching draws on real-world cases so graduates are ready to work across travel agencies, tour operations and hotels, or to build a tourism venture of their own, carrying forward skills built at certificate level into a broader, more independent base of industry knowledge.
Rated at MQF Level 5, the diploma runs full-time from March or September intakes. Entry requires an MQF Level 4 qualification (one A-Level or equivalent) plus English and Mathematics at MQF Level 3. Part-time study is intended for Malta-based and EU students, with non-EU applicants directed to the full-time track.
