Overview

This course answers the computing industry's ongoing need for technical staff able to keep up with evolving technology, by giving learners a first grounding in basic ICT skills. Teaching covers the fundamentals of computer systems, programming and computer graphics work, and has learners build small ICT projects of their own. The course is not designed to prepare learners for immediate employment on its own, but acts as the first in a sequence of programmes building toward a future career in the computing industry, feeding into further ICT study at MCAST once completed.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry follows internal progression from any MCAST Level 1 Introductory Certificate, or completion of compulsory education as documented by a full, official School Leaving Certificate, SSCP or SSQP. Depending on eligibility and applicability, candidates may also need to sit Initial Assessment Tests, with further detail available through the published Admissions FAQ.
