Program details

Overview

The exchange programme in Biotechnology, part of the Biology and Medical Research bachelor's programme, is practice-based, with closer detail given to subjects including specific growth conditions, renewable energy and microbial production. Alongside theoretical modules, considerable weight falls on actually carrying out an individual research project during the laboratory courses, where students work in independent pairs on designated projects that are usually tied to ongoing research at Hanze University's knowledge institutes. Past student projects have looked at how different light wavelengths affect plant growth, along with biogas production and bioplastics manufacturing.
