Program details

Overview

Groningen's LLM in Global Criminal Law focuses on understanding and applying both substantive and procedural criminal law within a globalised context, addressing forms of criminality that cross borders, including organised, transnational, and international crime. The programme combines two connected elements: a comparative and international grounding in substantive and procedural criminal law, and specialisation in particular categories of offending, among them organised crime, financial crime, cybercrime, and crimes recognised under international law. Students build the ability to analyse criminal law questions from more than one legal system at once, rather than working solely within a single domestic framework, while developing depth in specific categories of cross-border offending. The combination of broad comparative grounding and focused specialisation is intended to prepare graduates for work connected to international criminal law, whether in legal practice, policy, or related professional settings.
