The bachelor's programme in peace and conflict studies gives a research-based introduction to questions of peace and conflict. Students examine why wars start, how democracies can handle social conflict and reconciliation, and how peace is built after civil war. Using a range of social science tools, they analyse these questions at international level and connect them to local and global power relations, social sustainability and justice.
The programme gives a general grounding in social science as a field, including social science method and central theories. Its teaching has a clear international focus in both subject matter and organisation. It is a full-time 180 ECTS bachelor's degree at MF in Oslo with 75 places. Graduates may find work in foreign affairs, international organisations, humanitarian bodies, public agencies, consultancies, media and think tanks.
