BA/BS in Norrøn og keltisk filologi

The three-year bachelor in Old Norse and Celtic philology studies the texts, runes and manuscripts left by Norse and Celtic societies in the Viking Age and the Middle Ages. Students learn to read the literature of the period, including sagas, poems, legal texts and mythological material, and to interpret runic inscriptions. The degree teaches Old Norse and Celtic languages and is the only programme in the Nordic countries to combine both. Students can focus on the first or the second language, or on both, after a shared start. The programme is full-time, 180 ECTS credits, taught on campus in Oslo, with 15 study places. Students can join ongoing research projects in the field.
