MA/MS in Bioscience

The programme offers research-based specialisation in one of seven areas: biodiversity and systematics; cell biology, physiology and neuroscience; ecology and evolution; genetics and developmental biology; marine biology and limnology; molecular biology and biochemistry; or toxicology and environmental science. In the first semester, students agree a research project with a supervisor within their chosen specialisation, each of which carries its own prerequisites from earlier bachelor study. Students join a research group at the department, working in a laboratory, in the field, or on large datasets using bioinformatics and computational and statistical tools, with training in analysing biological data, writing reports, presenting findings orally and carrying out statistical analysis.
