Overview
The programme develops the ability to work independently on questions relating to feminism, power, sustainability, ecofeminism, knowledge production, gender equality and gender itself, approached in an interdisciplinary way. It consists of coursework and a master's thesis, each worth 60 credits, with gender treated throughout as an analytical category, offering a critical lens on questions in science, politics, culture and social life. Both teaching and supervision are available in English and Norwegian, and the thesis may instead be composed in Norwegian, another Scandinavian language, or English. Students can pair courses from the Centre for Gender Research together with modules offered by other units. The first year centres on six courses worth ten credits each, preparing students directly or indirectly for thesis work; the second year is dedicated to the thesis, whose topic is chosen in the second semester, based on the student's own research and developed under an approved supervisor.
