Overview

This two-year master's prepares mathematics teachers for the third cycle of basic education and for secondary school. The curriculum is taught in Portuguese, with first-year classes scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday from 13:00 and all day on Friday. Applicants need at least 120 ECTS in mathematics and must meet the conditions for supervised teaching practice set by national law. The programme totals 120 ECTS and awards a second-cycle master's degree in mathematics teaching. Applicants who already hold at least 75% of the required credits may apply, provided the missing credits are completed before the course ends.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Proficiency in Portuguese and the rules of logical and critical argument. At least 120 ECTS in mathematics per the annex to DL 9-A/2025, and either the conditions of art. 17(1)(a)-(c) of DL 74/2006 or art. 17(1)(d) with access to supervised teaching practice under art. 11(3) of DL 9-A/2025. Applicants holding at least 75% of the required credits may apply, completing the rest before graduation.
