Overview

The third cycle in biology aims to train highly qualified researchers who can innovate and design and run research and development projects in an original, autonomous way. Training centres on advanced knowledge and techniques in biology, the scientific method, and the analytical and communication skills needed to interpret scientific information. Students gain interdisciplinary team skills and the capacity to produce original research of international quality, and learn to identify and formulate relevant scientific problems. Graduates are prepared for university teaching, scientific research and consultancy. The four-year, 240 ECTS programme is full-time, with thesis work starting in year one and the thesis itself in year two.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Master's or equivalent legal degree with a background suited to the cycle; bachelor's holders recognised by the UAc's statutory scientific body as showing capacity for the cycle; or applicants with a school, scientific or professional record recognised by that body.
