Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar began offering its Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence in 2025, following the original Pittsburgh program's launch in 2018. The major teaches machine learning, automated reasoning and the broader methods behind building intelligent systems, situating the coursework within a wider view of how artificial intelligence is reshaping careers and the wider economy.
Entry happens through a shared first-year track with Computer Science: students join a common cohort and only choose between the Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science majors once that first year ends. The 360-unit curriculum allocates roughly 70 units to artificial-intelligence coursework, 60 to computer science and 71 to mathematics, rounded out by electives, a seminar and a general-education requirement. A College Honors track lets qualified students pursue an independent project and formal thesis.
Graduates meet the same requirements as their counterparts on the Pittsburgh campus and receive a degree conferred by the U.S. institution, regardless of where they studied.
