Program details
Overview
The Ph.D. program in Chemistry at Bryn Mawr prepares students for professional careers in research and teaching through a thorough grounding in modern chemistry. The department has awarded graduate degrees since the college was founded.
The program is intentionally small, so students work closely with every faculty member and receive individual mentoring. Research topics include anti-cancer drug development, nanotechnology materials, catalyst screening, nucleic acid interactions with proteins and metal complexes, and computational study of macromolecules.
Work takes place in the Park Science Center, and faculty collaborate with scientists at other research institutions and across disciplines at the college. Students also build teaching skills by instructing undergraduates under faculty guidance. Prospective students can consult the program page for degree requirements, graduate courses, faculty profiles, and details on student support.
