AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

This associate degree in Accounting begins a path into business careers and into accounting work in government, private firms, and public practice. Cañada notes that demand is strong for accounting assistants and that a bachelor's degree in any subject is needed to sit for the CPA exam. The major core is 21.5 units, and general education plus electives bring the total to 60 units. The coursework also fits the preparation needed for the bookkeeper credential exam. Students planning to transfer are pointed to the ASSIST website for comparing major preparation at destination colleges. The catalog lists related certificates, including the Accounting certificate, entry-level bookkeeper, and payroll specialist, which let students earn shorter credentials on the way to the degree. Students should check the current catalog for course scheduling and any program updates.
