BA/BS in Biology, General

Biology at Christopher Newport is available as either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in the natural and behavioral sciences college. The study of living systems runs from molecules to organisms and ecosystems, with laboratory work playing a central role. Students learn to ask scientific questions, analyze results, and interpret findings. The department lets students sharpen their focus through subject areas such as cellular, molecular, and physiological biology, or organismal and environmental biology. A minor is available for students in other majors. Because the department also covers chemistry and environmental science, students find opportunities for crossover study and research. The program is delivered on the Christopher Newport University campus in Newport News, Virginia, where students work closely with faculty. The full course list is in the undergraduate catalog, and the department can answer questions.
