AA/AS in Criminal Justice and Corrections

Administration of Justice at Coalinga College offers an transfer-focused science associate degree along with a Corrections associate degree. Students gain an understanding of the legal process in the criminal justice system, laws across local, state and national jurisdictions, and the writing of documents used in that system. Completing the transfer degree guarantees admission to the California State University system, where students finish a bachelor's degree after additional units. The corrections degree is aimed at those who want to enter the workforce. Graduates can pursue roles in municipal police departments, sheriff's departments, probation, corrections, state parks and private security. The college also describes supporting resources on the same page, including transfer information, regional internship opportunities, financial aid guidance and an advisor contact for students who want help getting started. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online and speak with an advisor about course planning.
