AA/AS in Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services, Other

Computer Information Systems at Coalinga College teaches the concepts, procedures and terminology needed to operate computer systems, along with the practical skills to apply them. Students learn to analyze problems that arise on computer systems and to keep those systems running well. The Microcomputer Applications Specialist pathway is available as both an Associate of Science degree and a Certificate of Achievement, so learners can choose between entering the workforce quickly or building toward transfer to a four-year university. Career directions suggested by the college include technical support, systems analysis, database administration, data analysis and IT consulting. The program enrolls new students at several points during the year. The college also describes supporting resources on the same page, including transfer information, regional internship opportunities, financial aid guidance and an advisor contact for students who want help getting started. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online and speak with an advisor about course planning.
