Program details

Overview

The Chemical Engineering associate degree lets students complete the first stage of an engineering education before transferring to an accredited engineering curriculum, where most credits apply toward a Bachelor of Science degree. The program supplies a firm base in engineering principles. It combines mathematics, basic sciences and engineering fundamentals with liberal arts courses that suit most bachelor's degree programs. Entry requires readiness for calculus, shown through a placement examination or completion of pre-calculus, and applicants are encouraged to take the exam before the summer session. The program is based at the Knight campus in Warwick, with two or more courses taken through URI. The Physics and Engineering Department website lists program changes and updates. Prospective students should review the full catalog entry for the complete course list, sequence and any prerequisite requirements before planning their schedule at the Community College of Rhode Island.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Mathematics placement examination at a calculus level (ready for Calculus I MATH 2141) or completion of Pre-Calculus Mathematics (MATH 2111); taking the placement exam before the summer session is recommended.
