Program details

Overview

The Biomedical Engineering associate degree is a transfer-oriented program in which students complete the early part of an engineering education and then move to an accredited engineering curriculum, where most credits count toward a Bachelor of Science degree. The curriculum builds a firm base in engineering principles, with strong preparation in mathematics, basic sciences and engineering fundamentals, along with liberal arts courses that suit most bachelor's degree programs. Students entering need to be ready for calculus, shown by a placement examination or by completing pre-calculus, and taking the exam before the summer session is encouraged. The program is based at the Knight campus in Warwick, and two or more courses are taken through URI. Students should consult the Physics and Engineering Department for updates.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Mathematics placement examination at a calculus level (ready for Calculus I MATH 2141) or completion of Pre-Calculus Mathematics (MATH 2111); taking the placement exam before the summer session is recommended.
