PhD in Botany/Plant Biology

Plant biology at Cornell covers a broad span, from molecular and genetic studies of basic plant processes and mathematical models of development to work on plant diversity and evolution. Besides their major subject, students take coursework in two minor subjects, which may lie in this area or elsewhere. The department provides equipment and expertise suited to the research interests of its faculty, including modern molecular instrumentation. Those whose interest is plant ecology should apply through the ecology and evolutionary biology graduate unit instead. Progress reviews start in the second year.
