BA/BS in Biology, General

The Biological Sciences major is open to students enrolled in either CALS or Arts and Sciences. Bachelor of Science candidates follow the graduation requirements of the agriculture college, while Bachelor of Arts candidates follow those of Arts and Sciences. Majors complete courses in six core areas of biology, beginning with an introductory cluster that includes laboratory work. The Office of Undergraduate Biology coordinates the curriculum, academic advising, and undergraduate research for students in both colleges. Certain pairings are restricted: students majoring in biology and society cannot also major in biological sciences. Students in nutritional sciences may double major, but they cannot select human nutrition as their concentration. Students should review the department graduation requirements early, since they differ by college.
