Program details
Overview
The mathematics program provides a broad foundation in both theoretical and applied topics. Students may complete the major as a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science, and an interdisciplinary option supports future teachers.
The department stresses a personal culture, with small classes and faculty who devote their careers to teaching and mentoring. Students can take internships with companies and organizations or work alongside professors on research that applies classroom ideas to practical questions.
The degree prepares graduates for work in finance, technology and engineering, as well as for graduate study. A mathematics minor is available for students in other disciplines. Because mathematics underlies so many fields, majors often combine the degree with study in computing, science or business to widen their options after graduation.
