Overview

Engineering Science is a Bachelor of Science that teaches core engineering ideas through an interdisciplinary approach. Students apply principles to problems drawn from several engineering and basic science fields rather than committing early to one narrow branch. The curriculum introduces computer-aided design, 3D printing and project management through hands-on work. Faculty bring expertise in materials science, nanotechnology, genetics, process and chemical engineering, and the environment. Some classes are led by practicing engineers, and seniors can complete capstone projects with industry partners. The degree offers broad preparation for further engineering study or entry-level technical work. Students from other science majors often add related minors in physics or chemistry. Because the program shares a department with physics, students can add a physics or chemistry minor to extend their scientific preparation.
