BA/BS in Biology, General

This degree looks at living systems from the molecular level to whole ecosystems. It suits students heading toward graduate study or careers in ecology, zoology, botany, molecular biology, biomedical research, health care and natural resource management. Completing the degree also covers the standard coursework that medical, dental, optometry and veterinary programs look for, although individual professional schools may add prerequisites. Pre-Health Advising can help students tailor their studies. Several tracks are available, including a Biology Education track that pairs science coursework with classroom teaching experience in preparation for a career in education. The department has offices on its campuses and a contact line for questions about the major. Students interested in biology teaching, health careers or research can use the available tracks and advisors to build a schedule that supports their plans.
