MA/MS in Applied Mathematics

This graduate degree prepares students for further study in mathematics or for advancement in their careers. Students select a track suited to their goals. The applied mathematics track concentrates on foundations and consists of graduate courses, ending with either additional courses or a master's project supervised by a faculty member. The Risk and Management track targets students interested in finance, such as banks, investment firms, utilities and hedge funds, with a structured sequence of graduate courses that full-time students complete in three semesters. A program brochure, graduate catalog and faculty expertise list help applicants plan, and the graduate program director answers questions. Faculty guide students working on projects or completing additional courses, and the department lists its expertise areas for those seeking mentors. Applicants can review admissions information and contact the graduate email for questions about the program.
