Overview

The Department of Anthropology offers thesis-based master's degrees leading to either a Master of Arts or a Master of Science. Applicants may specialise in archaeology, in cultural or biological anthropology, in the medical side of the field, or in a mix. Admission requires a strong grade average in the junior and senior years and suitable preparation in the prerequisite courses for the chosen specialization. Official transcripts from every institution attended go to the graduate school. Students must maintain a B average to remain in good standing. Applications are due once a year for entry the following fall. Prospective applicants should review the department's current admission guidance, required documents and timelines before applying. Contacting the program office early is a sensible way to ask about funding, prerequisites and expected progress through the degree, and to confirm which requirements apply to a given entry term.
