Cert in Practical Nursing, Vocational Nursing and Nursing Assistants

Patient care procedures and assessments are the heart of this technical diploma, taught by experienced faculty at the Racine and Elkhorn locations. Historically, graduates have achieved strong results on the NCLEX-PN licensing exam. Because students may begin in fall, spring, or summer, the schedule can be arranged around jobs and family duties. After finishing, graduates can keep going by moving into the college's Nursing associate degree and building on what they have learned. The program totals 30 credits. The career goal is licensed practical nurse. Students also learn to document their observations, communicate with patients and families, and work as part of a care team. Students practice hands-on skills with instructor guidance, which prepares them for supervised work with patients in a variety of care settings once they pass licensure.
