Overview

Georgia Tech's master's degree in computer science takes students beyond introductory programming and basic theory of computation. It is intended to prepare graduates for demanding technical careers in industry, where deeper command of computing methods is valued. Coursework builds on an undergraduate computing foundation, so applicants are generally expected to arrive already comfortable with programming and core concepts. From there, students pick up advanced material and can steer their studies toward the subjects that match their goals. The degree is housed in the College of Computing and is oriented toward professional employment rather than a research career, although it can also serve as preparation for doctoral study. Details on admission, degree structure, and course options appear in the catalog and on the college's website.
