PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology

The Biophysics Program at Harvard supports independent scientists who apply the methods of physical science to biological problems. Doctoral students pursue research and coursework that introduce them to the diverse areas of biophysics. Training combines hands-on laboratory experience with classes that cover core theory. In the early years, students meet faculty members and learn about their research, which helps them choose an advisor with care. The later stages focus on intensive laboratory work, with the aim of producing research suitable for publication. Students gain skills that prepare them to work independently. Applicants should consult the Graduate School admissions pages for requirements, deadlines and financial support. These details are not set out on the program overview page, so they should be confirmed directly with the school.
