Cert in Agricultural Business and Management

Howard College offers a Level I certificate in agricultural science, completed in one year with 31 to 32 credit hours. It gives newcomers a broad look at the agriculture industry, mixing lectures with applied training. Students move through two semesters, with advisor-approved electives in each. Topics include livestock, crops, farm economics and basic agribusiness, and students build hands-on skills through a choice of agricultural construction, farm and ranch shop skills or welding. Electives are selected with advisor approval. The certificate is intended for entry-level work in agricultural settings and also works as a first step toward the two-year agriculture transfer degree at the Big Spring campus. Students who finish the certificate can apply many of the credits there.
