Physics fundamentals meet applied engineering training in this bachelor's degree, designed so that students can convert scientific discoveries into new technologies. It is a full-time course that runs four years.
Every student selects one of four engineering specializations, each intended as a route into industries oriented toward the future. Small classes are led by faculty from both physics and engineering.
Research options extend to work at outside facilities, among them Argonne and Fermilab, two national laboratories near Chicago. The engineering and health school hosts the degree, which is delivered on campus and gives students a base for either graduate study or technical careers. Graduates are positioned for work in technology-driven industries as well as for continued graduate study in physics or engineering, depending on the specialization chosen.
