— it helps other students.
Architectural Technology at Los Angeles Harbor College trains students for work in the building and design professions. Graduates can pursue roles such as drafter, designer, project manager or materials salesperson, and the training also supports movement into environmental design, industrial design, urban planning, fabrication and construction management.
Courses can be taken in whatever order suits a student's schedule, as long as prerequisites are met. Students learn to present ideas through drawings, models and written work, to follow the design process from proposal to refined solution, and to use current digital tools while researching technologies and historical precedents.
The curriculum also asks students to apply sustainable design principles and to act as informed, ethical members of their community. Because the degree includes more than the standard transfer load, finishing it takes extra time.
