BA/BS in Biomedical/Medical Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering combines engineering principles with medicine and biology. Students work with faculty in a collaborative setting and use laboratory facilities, including a biomedical engineering center linked to a micromanufacturing institute. Research areas include nanoscience, the neural and tissue fields, and drug delivery. The program is accredited by ABET under its criteria for bioengineering and biomedical engineering. Its educational outcomes emphasize professional practice, ethical responsibility and communication with diverse audiences. Graduates may enter careers in medical device design, healthcare technology, engineering management or graduate and professional study. Learners who finish the program are prepared to innovate medical devices and improve healthcare technologies, whether they enter industry or continue their education, and the program's research environment helps them develop that readiness early.
