MA/MS in Communication and Media Studies

The Department of Communication Studies prepares future communication leaders through effective and ethical practice. This master's degree lets students shape an individual program of theory, research and application. It is intended both for people who want careers as communication professionals and for those planning further graduate study. Alumni work in a wide range of roles, including public health communication. Applicants follow the graduate admissions process and generally need a solid undergraduate record; provisional admission is possible for applicants whose grades fall slightly lower. Details on required courses, culminating experiences and admission procedures are listed in the graduate catalog. Prospective students should review those sections, contact the program coordinator with questions about fit and timing, and submit the application through the graduate admissions office before beginning coursework.
