This master's degree examines new and social media using both technology studies and the social sciences. Students learn about big data, analytical approaches to social media and human behavior so that new communication technology can be deployed effectively.
Alumni work in the tech industry, data science, creative media and digital marketing, and some continue to doctoral study. The program is normally completed over three terms and includes a final project plus a collaborative research seminar running across those terms.
Electives may come from within the division or from approved programs elsewhere, and a thesis or internship can count toward the elective requirement, though either may add terms to the schedule. The program page sets out course requirements and learning outcomes in detail, and applicants are pointed to the school's own site for contact and admissions questions.
