AA/AS in Anthropology

MiraCosta College offers anthropology through its social science department. The subject looks at people through biological, historical, cultural and social lenses. Students can take the courses to prepare for an anthropology major at a four-year school or to meet general education needs. The degree pathway listed is Anthropology for Transfer, and a separate global health pathway sits alongside it. Graduates may head toward museums, archaeology, field research, education, journalism, government, nonprofits, social services or data analysis. Students are encouraged to meet with a counselor and use the academic maps to plan their classes. The college has locations in Oceanside, Cardiff and Carlsbad, and students can request more information or speak with a counselor before they enroll, and they can also explore careers, look up courses in the catalog or learn about financial aid.
