AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

The Accounting program at MiraCosta College prepares students to transfer as accounting majors and offers career-focused certificates for those heading straight to work. It also provides courses that strengthen workplace skills. Accounting is part of the college's Business Department together with business administration. Students can use academic maps to see which classes to take and consult a counselor to tailor the plan. Positions listed by the department include bookkeeper, payroll specialist, accounts payable clerk, tax analyst, auditor, financial analyst and forensic accountant. Becoming a CPA requires a bachelor's or master's degree beyond the college's offerings. The department also invites donations and keeps an email list. The college has locations in Oceanside, Cardiff and Carlsbad, and students can request more information or speak with a counselor before they enroll, and they can also explore careers, look up courses in the catalog or learn about financial aid.
