AA/AS in Communication and Media Studies

This Moorpark College transfer degree centers on how people communicate in different settings, including close relationships, small groups, workplaces and wider cultures. Students look at the way language carries meaning and at the part played by unspoken signals. Courses also cover practical subjects such as handling disagreement, guiding a group, working through problems and conducting interviews. Along the way, students consider how communication shapes their own personal and working lives. The Associate in Arts for Transfer is built for those who intend to move on to a bachelor's program, so the sequence is arranged to prepare them for upper-division study in communication at a four-year university. Students should confirm transfer requirements with a counselor. Students are encouraged to review program requirements in the current catalog and to speak with a counselor about how the credential fits their longer-term plans.
