Overview

Weber State lets students earn a two-year Associate of Science while concentrating on communication. The degree is run through the arts and humanities college and pairs a shared set of foundation classes with a menu of electives. The foundation covers speaking before audiences, writing for media or for the workplace, the study of mass communication, and how people interact one-on-one and in small groups. Elective choices range from analyzing arguments to audio work, multi-camera production, debate teams, speech competition and digital media basics. Students formally declare their major through the university's student services office. They are urged to check in with a college advisor at least yearly and can use Grad MAPs to lay out each term. A cumulative grade average is required to finish the degree.
