Five courses make up this graduate-level introduction to the basics of Catholic theology. It is intended for people who teach in parochial elementary schools or diocesan high schools, for volunteers who lead religious instruction in parish programs, and for any adult wanting a deeper grasp of the faith.
Students attend online, at the campus on evenings, or through a blend of the two, and distance learners participate in real time by video. Instructors hold doctoral degrees in Catholic theology and have been granted the Mandatum. Enrollment in each course is modest, and participants can register for a pair of courses, or just one, each semester.
Credits earned here may later be applied toward the university's master's degree in theology. To apply, candidates submit a letter of application, their undergraduate transcript, a pair of recommendation letters and a written essay. A tuition reduction may be available to active diocesan members.
