Overview
Spalding's bachelor-level social work course of study is built around a commitment to fairness and the common good. Teaching staff live and work in Louisville, so classroom lessons draw on both scholarship and day-to-day practice with local agencies.
Students move through the curriculum together as a cohort. Weekly sessions happen in person on two evenings, and the rest of the instruction is delivered over the internet. Supervised service work and practicum placements are part of the plan from early on.
Those who want extra focus can add a minor in Addiction Studies or Health Science, or work toward a Public Child Welfare Certificate. After graduation, social workers can serve individuals, families, groups or whole neighborhoods in many kinds of settings.
