— it helps other students.
This advanced certificate offers a short, focused entry into graduate public health study. Participants complete the same core courses taken by master's students, including epidemiology, environmental health, and health policy and management.
The program is open to applicants holding a bachelor's degree in any discipline, not only the sciences. It is also available to students and residents from other Downstate colleges and schools.
Credits earned can later be applied toward the Master of Public Health. Students in this certificate are not eligible for financial aid or federal student loans.
The School of Public Health was established to serve urban and immigrant populations, and the certificate reflects that commitment. Brooklyn is home to many immigrants, and the program places their health needs at its center, taking advantage of the borough's only academic medical center and its facilities.
