BA/BS in Chemistry

The chemistry program has held approval from a national chemical society for several decades and offers two degree options. The science degree earns that society's certification and spans five chemistry disciplines, while the arts degree suits students interested in chemical sciences careers without a research focus. Small labs give majors personal attention. Many take part in faculty research and win campus grants for supplies and travel to scientific meetings, and paid summer research internships are frequent. Graduates move on to graduate or medical school, or take entry-level positions as scientists in industry. Future middle or high school chemistry teachers pair the major with an education program.
