Communication Studies is a flexible major in which each student builds an individual course pathway with a faculty advisor. The curriculum grounds students in how people communicate and sharpens their speaking, writing and listening abilities.
Faculty are both scholars and working practitioners, and classes explore what it means to have a voice and to connect across differences. Students can add practical experience by applying for summer or semester internships across the media, promotion, sales, nonprofit and public sectors.
Campus clubs, including a communication society, a marketing club and an honor society, give majors further chances to build skills and friendships. Graduates pursue roles such as social media management and university administration. Coursework sits within the department of communication and media, and the major is taught in person on campus. Students who like variety appreciate that the pathway is shaped around their own goals.
