BA/BS in Computer Science

The computer science major at SUNY Polytechnic Institute is a bachelor's degree that spans the principal subject areas of computing. Its structure follows recommendations published by the Association for Computing Machinery, and it leaves room for students to steer their studies toward particular interests. Every graduate is expected to leave with firm command of the discipline's basics, and a generous menu of upper-level electives lets each person build a focus of their own. Possible directions drawn from current and recent course offerings include information security, game programming, machine learning and artificial intelligence, system administration, networking, modelling and simulation, scientific computing and information technology. Students who want to go further can pursue an accelerated pathway that combines the bachelor's with a master's. A program coordinator based on campus answers questions from prospective applicants.
