Overview
The undergraduate anthropology program leads to a Bachelor of Arts and is taught in person within the Maxwell School. It emphasizes learning by doing and encourages critical thinking about human culture and development.
Majors receive grounding in theory, methods and ethics, and complete required work in the cultural, biological and archaeological branches of the field. They add courses on regional perspectives, methods and theory, plus electives chosen to fit their interests.
Students can take part in laboratory research, fieldwork and community engagement, using archaeology and physical anthropology labs. Ground-penetrating radar is among the tools students work with, and volunteering-oriented courses broaden the experience.
This major is taught in person within the Maxwell School, which houses undergraduate social science programs together with policy and international affairs study. Students interested in the program can request information or apply through the university website.
