Utah's anthropology department awards the master's degree as either an MA or an MS. Students concentrate in one of four tracks: archaeology, biological anthropology, evolution of culture, cognition and behavior, or evolutionary ecology.
Both degrees are designed to be finished in two years. Students begin with a proseminar series in the first year, add emphasis-specific courses and electives, and show proficiency in a foreign language approved by their committee. The degree is conferred after the required coursework and a passing result on the master's qualifying examination.
Students with financial need can ask the graduate coordinator for a code that waives the application fee when the application meets the deadline.
