The PharmD program at Houston's pharmacy college admits students after prerequisite coursework, and a bachelor's degree is not needed. Students train in modern facilities beside faculty and are near the Texas Medical Center, a major medical hub.
Upper-level rotations include community pharmacy, cancer care, infectious disease, children's health, intensive care and management. The curriculum begins with foundations such as physiology, biochemistry and patient assessment, then moves into integrated modules on cardiovascular, neurology, oncology and infectious disease topics. Students learn to read clinical literature and apply evidence to practice, and they take at least three electives.
Graduates are prepared for clinical work, research, teaching, entrepreneurship and industry roles. Applicants submit prerequisite coursework and three references, and a higher GPA is preferred.
