PhD in Public Policy Analysis

The Public Policy PhD prepares leaders across the government, business and nonprofit worlds, with attention to social equity. Classes are small, and faculty can give each cohort personal attention. Graduate assistantships cover full tuition during the opening three years, plus part of the fee and health insurance costs. Students gain hands-on research experience through the centers and institutes of the McCormack Graduate School. Alumni have become policy analysts, executive directors of community and child welfare organizations, school superintendents and university faculty. UMass Boston is an urban public research university in Boston, and graduate students in this program learn alongside a diverse community of peers. Faculty mentorship, close contact with practitioners and researchers, and the resources of the surrounding city support students as they advance their careers or continue to further study.
