These two-year master's programs give added graduate training and research practice in general or marine biology. Research topics range from behavior of animals and coastal ecosystems to computation, development, evolution, genomes, immunity, microbes and physiology. A marine biology concentration is earned when the thesis project focuses on the sea and the student takes at least one marine course. The degree requires thirty semester credits, which include thesis research and a graduate seminar, and students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
