BA/BS in History

The History major at the Virginia Military Institute aims to prepare graduates for the duties of citizenship. It readies cadets for graduate work in history or government and for law, business, politics, public service and the military. Cadets study the history of Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the United States. Courses stress understanding developments and problems, while also weighing social, economic and cultural change as well as politics and constitutions. Majors also learn a foreign language. Honors are open to majors with outstanding records, and a concentration in military history is offered.
